Peppermint (Mentha x piperita) has been a medicinal plant valued and recognized in many medical fields for centuries. The oil contained in China-Oel is gained by steam distillation from the fresh aerial parts of Mentha x piperita L. This 100% pure essential oil is subject to constant pharmaceutical control and meets the strict requirements of the current European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.).
China-Oel, an over-the-counter medicine, was first sold on the German market in 1957 and since then did not only find it`s way into almost every German pharmacy, but has meanwhile found its way to almost every continent. Mentha x piperita was voted "Medicinal Plant of the Year" by the University of Würzburg in 2004, which reflects the high status of this plant in scientific circles.
