Peppermint – the all-round medicinal herb

Peppermint (Mentha x piperita) is a cross between spearmint and water mint. It has been used as a medicinal plant for centuries due to its soothing, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties and has been cultivated in Germany since the 18th century.

China-Oel^® products contain the 100% pure essential oil of peppermint. It is extracted by steam distillation from the flowering, aerial parts of the plant and is subject to constant pharmaceutical control. The cooling effect during application results from the interaction of menthol with cold receptors of the skin.
